Twas the night before Christmas

It was the night before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not Otis..not Ellie..not even my spouse…..

The stockings were hung by the chimney at our new North Van abode
in hopes that St. Nicholas would soon arrive with his load.

Ellie was nestled all snug in her crib,
while Otis lingered around the table hoping for scraps from her bib.

Tim reached in the fridge for an ice cold beer,
while Corri inspected her tired eyes in the mirror

When all of a sudden a thought flickered by…
We have not sent our Christmas wishes yet, why oh why?

Away to the computer I flew like a flash
Turned on the power, hoping the system wouldn’t crash

The stars twinkled up above in the sky so bright
I began writing, in hopes of blogging before Santa’s flight

When I started to reflect on what I should say
I realized that describing our year would take a whole day

We encountered change like no other year
Along with both joys and challenges, each day we have held dear

Our family, our friends, our Ellie, and Odie our lab
We have lots to be grateful for, our life is just fab

Now I must go, we must get ready for the big man to get here
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
